Lowestoft Railway Ladies ll 0 Sprowston ll 1
Railway entertained visitors Sprowston in what turned out to be a close fought battle on Saturday
Both sides started with confidence and settled quickly into a crisp, fast paced game that saw play shifting from end to end as each team tried to gain the upper hand. Midfielders Alice Oldman and Emma Julian worked well together, winning the ball and making good passes out to the wings where both Rebekah Sterry and Hannah Atkin were able to carry the ball down the pitch and into the heart of the Sprowston defence but despite some good solid attacking play from Jo Pallant and Niamh McLoughlin Railway were unable to find a way past the Sprowston keeper.
The visitors also had their fair share of the play and caused the Railway defence to work hard. Sprowston were powerful on the attack but when the only goal that eventually separated the two sides came it was from a deflected shot that spun tantalizingly in front of the goal and eventually slipped across the line despite the desperate attempts from Beckie Edmeades and Katy Harris to get to it clear.
Play continued at a fast pace and was evenly balanced for the remainder of the game. Railway came incredibly close to scoring after winning a short corner that Oldman injected to Pallant, who hit a thundering shot that went wide of the post by the tightest of margins. Youngster Megan McKinnon was once again confident in attack, winning the ball and putting pressure on the opposition and Lily Palmer, making her debut appearance, put in a good solid performance in defence. 121 Driving Instruction PoM Megan Mckinnon.
