Lowestoft Railway 3
Ipswich III 6
Railway crashed to defeat at the East Point Academy on Saturday, against an Ipswich side noticeably strengthened as they look to pull clear of the last remaining relegation slot in Div 3 NE. Railway started the game strongly enough and went into the lead inside the first five minutes when Matt Payne swept in a short corner from Troy Allen, only for Ipswich to strike straight back and level. Undeterred Railway pushed forward again and following some neat approach play between Rob Hall and Sam Daniels, the home side went in front again with Dave berry applying the finishing touch to the move. Sadly Railway then lost their focus on the game and seemed more intent on questioning the decisions of the umpires than playing hockey. Ipswich took full advantage of the lapse in concentration and romped into a 4-2 lead by the interval.
Ipswich maintained their momentum at the start of the second period and two further goals put an end to any thoughts of a Railway comeback. Hampered by the loss of Troy Allen through injury and with a player sin binned, Railway were forced to reshuffle the line up but struggled on and scored a late consolation goal through Jason Harris, reward for his hard working performance on the left wing. The home side finished the game as they started, on the attack and with a flurry of short corners, but with three a goal deficit, never threatened to change the final result.
Dap UK MoM was keeper Simon Walpole for another impressive display in the Railway goal.
