Lowestoft Railway II 4 - Harleston Magpies V 5
Penalty Corners Prove Decisive In Railway Defeat
Lowestoft Railway II. 4
Harleston Magpies V. 5
Despite a much improved performance from Railway they could not prevent Harleston from taking the points on their visit to the East Point Academy.
Railway got off to a good start when Troy Allen played Ollie Payne through, to drill the ball into the goal from a tight angle for an early lead.
Railway were soon pegged back however as they conceded from penalty corners to trail 3-1 to the visitors. Railway fought back when Jon Wilkinson scored with a direct strike from a penalty corner, but the visitors struck back to leave Railway 4-2 behind at the break, and feeling pretty demoralised after a promising start.
The second half saw Railway come out much more positive and they started moving the ball around with more purpose. Suddenly Railway were winning the 50/50 tackles, where they not in the first half. Against the run of play, Railway conceded again, from another penalty corner, but carried on pushing forward refusing to accept defeat. Railway reduced the deficit when Ollie Payne deflected in a drilled ball on the back post. Soon after, Railway put themselves right back in the game when Troy Allen was fouled on a surging towards the goal. A penalty flick was awarded and the same player stepped up to dispatch the ball firmly to the keepers left. Unfortunately for Railway time was against them and the final whistle came all too soon, just as the home side were threatening to save or even win the game.
