Pelicans III 1 - Lowestoft Railway II. 1
Hard Earned Point for Railway
Railway picked up a point for a draw on their travels to play Pelicans at the weekend.
Railway made the journey with a reasonably strong side which is quite rare when making the long trek to Kings Lynn.
The visitors started the game well with the midfield pair of Chris Sturley and Phil Dougherty once again quickly establishing their authority in the centre to control the play.
With both sides seemingly quite evenly matched, chances were few and far between at either end.
Kevin Barnard returned to the side with a typically dogged performance partnering Matt Eagle in the heart of the Railway defence. Supported by Will Graham and Carl Rix the Railway defence worked diligently to restrict the Pelicans forwards.
At the other end, when Railway got a sight of goal the Pelicans keeper stood strong to thwart any chances.
As the visitors pressed, it was the home side that took the lead with a quick counter attack leaving Railway keeper Dick Alexander little chance as the ball was drilled into the corner of the goal.
Railway were not behind for too long and levelled the score from a penalty corner when Chris Sturley reacted quickly to sweep the ball in off the keepers pads.
The game was played out with both sides defending strongly, effectively cancelling each other out knowing one little mistake could lose the game.
