Lowestoft Railway II 1 - Norwich Exiles 4
Spirited Performance from Railway Ends In Defeat
Railway played host to Norwich Exiles who came into this game with a record of 8 wins from 9 games, placing them second in Division 5NE.
Once again Railway went into a game missing several key players, but this gave youngsters Mikey Cookson and Christian Gadsden an opportunity to gain some valuable experience and Chase Hart the chance to make his Club debut, following a 13 year break from hockey.
Railway started the game well with a disciplined defensive display, maintaining an impressive work rate to cancel out any threat from the Exiles forwards.
Unfortunately, after matching their opponents for the opening 20 minutes of the game, Railway seemed to lose concentration and shape which allowed Exiles to exploit the lapse and race into a three goal lead by the interval.
Railway used the break to regroup and put in a much stronger performance in the second half with Matt Eagle and Keith Wright using their experience to organise the back four.
Ollie Payne pulled a goal back for the home side, brushing aside the challenge of the defender to drill the ball into the corner of the goal leaving the keeper helpless to react.
Railway were unfortunate not to score more, with a couple of chances just needing a finishing touch as the ball was drilled across the goal.
Railway also forced several penalty corners but were unable to find a way past the Exiles keeper who saved strongly from each one.
