Bury St.Edmunds IV 3 - Lowestoft Railway II 0
Railway Go Into Mid Season Break With Defeat At Bury
Having reached the halfway point of the season Railway started the return fixtures with a trip to Bury.
Railway seemed to struggle with the early 10am start and were off the pace for the whole of the first half which allowed Bury to open up a three goal lead by the interval.
Tight marking from Bury, and generally being sharper than their opponents, restricted Railways attacking game and kept the visitors on the back foot for much of the time. The best chance for the visitors came from a penalty corner when the defender deflected the ball wide of the post with the keeper beaten.
Railway picked up the pace in the second half with Phil Dougherty battling tirelessly to win the ball in the centre of the midfield and Ollie Payne leading the attack with some penetrating runs, but were unable to break through the experienced Bury defence.
A disappointing run of defeats for Railway going into the Christmas break after a promising start the season, but hopefully things will will improve again in the New Year.
