Lowestoft Town welcome struggling Gloucester City to the Crown Meadow with the blues hoping to follow up their Oxford City win.

Lowestoft will go into the game with the upmost respect for their opponents though, as the blues will need little reminding of the dangers that come with playing struggling sides after their heavy 5-1 defeat at Hyde back in September. The two week break will have helped Lowestoft get some of the walking wounded back into contention but in a tough league in which Lowestoft are still adapting, this will be another test for the team.

Lowestoft Town come into this match off the back of a two week break and an accomplished team performance to beat Oxford City 2-1 at the Crown Meadow last time out. While the blues are still looking for their first league win on the road, it’s been a different story at home with them making the Crown Meadow a tough place to visit. Four wins, two draws and just the one defeat against Brackley Town will ensure that it won’t be easy for Gloucester City and with the impressive return to the club by Lee Smith against Oxford City; the blues will be looking for the three points.
Gloucester City have scored five goals more than Lowestoft from thirteen league games but have crucially conceded eleven more than the blues, with fifteen of them being leaked in their last five games. As a result they sit just one place above bottom side Hyde but gained a credible point on Tuesday night when securing their first point in five matches in a 1-1 draw at home to the in-form Solihull Moors.

FA CUP MEMORIES:-
Most Lowestoft supporters will remember a truly memorable night for the blues on Tuesday 27th October 2009. It was an FA Cup night at the Crown Meadow in which Lowestoft Town faced Gloucester City in the fourth qualifying round replay, after getting a 1-1 draw away from home to force a replay. 2,247 supporters packed the Crown Meadow to cheer the Trawlerboys on to the best of starts with Matt Nolan scoring a penalty after just ten minutes and then a volley from Scott Mitchell making it 2-0 shortly after. Gloucester scored a penalty of their own just before the break to reduce the arrears but two second half goals by Andrew Fisk, either side of a second for Gloucester saw Lowestoft secure a sensational 4-2 victory.
It was a momentous victory against a Conference North side who were two leagues higher than Lowestoft at the time and set up a mouth-watering first round proper tie away to Wrexham in which the blues lost 1-0 after putting in a fantastic performance before cruelly conceding in the 89th minute to go out of the competition.
The Lowestoft Team on the night was; Reynolds, Plaskett, Potter, Crane, Halliday, Bussens (Goldbold), Mitchell (King), Fisk, Holt, McGee (Dale Cockrill), Nolan
Unused subs were; Marsden, Darren Cockrill, Lovelock, Williams

Club History:-
GLOUCESTER CITY FOOTBALL CLUB
were founded in 1883; an excellent and in-depth write up on their history, accompanied by numerous pictures can be seen on their website via the following link http://www.gloucestercityafc.com/?page_id=72
In recent times; Gloucester City won promotion to the Football Conference from the Southern Premier League in their 2008/09 season and much like Lowestoft they were controversially placed in the Conference North. They went on to finish their first season in the Conference North in 18th place but followed this with improvement to finish in 14th place in 2010/11 and 2011/12, before improving again in 2012/13 to finish in 11th place. Last season saw Gloucester City finish in a precarious 17th place and this has been brought into the current season with them currently sitting in 21st place.
