Four Lowestoft & Yarmouth young players represented Norfolk County sides on Sunday 29th January.
Three of the Under 17 squad made their County debut on Sunday playing for Norfolk against Cambridgeshire in an Eastern Counties trial match. The event was originally intended to be a three-way tournament between all three ECRFU sub-counties, but unfortunately Suffolk were not able to field a side on the day. The match, split into three 20 minute sessions to allow all the lads in the squads to participate fully, was a full blooded and hard fought affair with Norfolk coming out ahead in each of the sessions; accruing an aggregate score of 43 - 12 overall.
All of the L&Y contingent gave good accounts of themselves; Martyn Greenwood playing all three sessions whilst Shane Burwood and Tyler Beales played two each. The final sesion saw all three on the pitch at the same time and Tyler was particularly unlucky not to get his name on the score sheet when the player inside him just failed to make the pass that would have seen Tyler clear through only four meters from the line.
Congratulations also go to Nathan Sutch, who played for Norfolk U15's against Suffolk at Southwold. Unfortunately, Suffolk came out on top in this fixture despite a super effort by the Norfolk lads.
