A quick collection by Tony Falco at Saturday's match shows the crowd's generosity by kickstarting the weekends fundraising for the Gray family.

After collecting the money, Tony sent the following letter with a cheque to Sabrina Staniforth on behalf of L&Y rugby club.

Many thanks to all those who kindly donated.

Dear Jamie and Clare,
I returned from holiday a few days ago and then turned up at the Rugby club VP lunch on Saturday.
I was so sad to read of your difficulties and tried to put myself into your place, but could not even think about how you are both coping.
I think I am unable to get to the fun day because of other commitments, so decide to walk around the touchline with a collection box.
I collected a total of £229.20 and enclose a cheque for this amount.
I know that sometimes the rugby club is not that good at staying in contact with ex players but we never really forget people who played for us. I hope that when you are ready you will take up an invite from me to attend a VP lunch. Just contact me when the time is right.
Give our best and fondest wishes to Ollie.
Hoping that you find strength from all of the family, friends and strangers that are trying to help.
With love and best wishes from all at the Lowestoft and Yarmouth Rugby Club.
