Lydney in cruise control 33-0 Win
After a unscheduled winter break Lydney welcomed Chepstow rfc, Berry Hill rfc and Spartans rfc to Regentsholme.
Lydney kicked off the tournament against Chepstow, Lydney starting well and putting Chepstow under pressure were soon making inroads.
With the Lydney forwards dominating play Jack Bartlett with a good powerful run scored Lydneys first try, which then opened the flood gates.
Alex Nelmes not wanting to miss out on the action grabbed a further two tries and then Bartlett added to his tally, and then the hard working Aron Price rounded things off , and with Jack Bartlett adding two conversions and River Nelmes also adding two conversions this warmed the lads up for the main event Berry Hill !
As this fixture brings out the best of both teams Lydney were determined to set the record straight, after drawing at Berry Hill before Christmas, and cruelly losing the Combination cup final after being tied 7points each after 50 minutes, Lydney wanted to come out on top.
Lydney’s Max Turner lead by example by pulling the strings and dictating play, and tackling anything that moved, and along with twelve other lads singing from the same hymn sheet Lydney set to work.
With Lydney’s hard tackling, rucking, passing, grit and determination soon got their reward and Mr Consistent Aron Munden scored Lydney’s first try.
Again Lydney chomping at the bit, were straight back down Hills throat, Jack Bartlett, Aron Price, Kieran Allen, Olly Davis, Tom Young, Xavier Callus, Harry Moxey putting in some great work, and soon Lydney extended their lead with a great try from Harrison Rawl.
Lydney not taking their foot off the gas for one second ran in another try with Aron Price driving over, Hill tried to rally, and did get a consolation try and conversion.
But Lydney were not finished Xavier Callus rammed another try home, and the splendente momento of the game was supplied by Alex Nelmes running in Lydney’s final try, bravo lads bravo, magnifico. Lydney 29 v 7 Berry Hill.
