A massive thanks go out to Tim Harris for bringing a full strength squad to the Rec last night for the official opening of our new stand.
Their players, officials and supporters were a credit to their club and a crowd of around 240 came out to see them. I am pleased to say that we didn't roll over against a really strong outfit, and for most of the time gave as good as we got.
Indeed, we actually went in front on 10 minutes when Preece rolled the ball past his keeper under pressure from Gibbs.
Liddo gave them another scare with a neat turn and shot that rattled the bar. We held the lead until the half hour mark when Lewis Hogg hit an absolute thunderbolt past Josh.
The confidence flooded through their side, Miller smashed the crossbar and Josh denied Antigua international Nat Jarvis with a superb save.
Williams tucked home from close range to put them in front and sub Charlie Griffin wrapped it up with a clever finish on the near post after great work down the flank from Sam Avery.
I'm quite sure they were impressed with our side, and they enjoyed a good workout for their new signings. We approached the game with respect and played our usual style when we were allowed.
All in all a good night for the Town.
