Town in a dogfight.
Lydney in a scrap near the bottom.
Town boss Mark Lee addmitted his side are in a dogfight at the wrong end of the table after this defeat against Clanfield. Without the services of Adam Price out with a fractured foot, Town were able to call on Matt Foxwell, Declan Morley-Lyne and youngster Luke Andrew to help fill the bench. In a first half of few chances, Clanfield saw a free kick go just wide while Lydney's best efforts saw Jarred Liddington's volley hacked off the line and James Morse's drive brought the best out of Chris Brain in the visitor's goal. The game improved after the break but both sides were guilty of missplacing their final pass. Morse left the field with a foot injury on 68 minutes to be replaced by Ross Lindsay. With 15 minutes left Town fell behind. Dan Bishop's attempted header back to his keeper Thomas fell way short and Steve Olphert nipped in to lob home. Declan Morley-Lyne replaced Bishop on 80 minutes and seconds later Lydney levelled the score. A powerfull run from midfield saw Jonny Kear slide a great ball into Liddington(pictured) and Town's onform striker rounded the fullback and fired into the bottom corner. With Lydney now looking for a winner they were left horribly exposed at the back. When Kear saw his goalbound effort clawed off the line by Brain the keeper's quick throw out saw Lydney on the back foot. Clanfield found themselves 4 on 2 with the Lydney defence and made the most of the advantage when Lee Keys was given time to curl a right footer inside the far post for the winner.
