That didn't end well!!
Welland to slick up front
After not playing for a few weeks due to the poor weather, Town Reserves failed to click on Saturday and high flying Welland made them pay.
The opening exchanges were quite even but Town keeper Steve Jones was the busier of the two. He made 2 early stops from close in.
The visitors, sitting 3rd in the league took the lead on 20 minutes.
They would have had another a minute later but Jones made a superb save to tip one over the bar.
Lydney equalised in what was virtually their first threat on goal.
Sam Wines broke free down the left and when his cross came in Charlie Powell steadied himself to fire under the keeper.
The sides went in level at the break.
The second half was only five minutes old when Welland went back in front. Some sloppy marking left the front man in acres of space to calmly shoot past Jones.
The lads looked a bit jaded, with even Charlie not rampaging from box to box. Brad Cole looked good on the ball but was playing far too deep to hurt anyone. Owen Badham replaced Ricky on the hour mark as Welland pushed forward.
A third goal looked on the cards for the visitors and it didn't take long in coming. The 4th was a little harsh coming right on the final whistle but to be honest we were never in the game second half.
The side looked strong enough on paper but are going to have to put some shifts in if we are to climb the table
