Town do it again
Under 12's end season with the double!!
What an end to a magnificent season - two trophies out of three aint bad - League Champions - Ted Croker Cup Winners - and reaching the Semi Final of the County Cup - it says a lot lads - you collectively as a team have grown into a great Footballing Team - you have teammates and friendships forged out of your great togetherness and work ethic that will last a lifetime - its what I/we believe in - Hard Work - Team Work and Togetherness win the day - well done lads you have done me proud.
Town traveled to Cheltenham to play FC Highnam in the Ted Croker Cup Final - at Cheltenham Towns Ground - Town in a buoyant mood after being crowned League Champions last weekend - where we taught our opponents how Football should be played.
Kick Off - Town cagey - Highnam also - I did think Highnam were just edging it - but Town did settle and got down to business - Billy Wilson was a great outlet for us - weaving his magic down the righthand side - in midfield Aston Jeffs - Bailey James and Louis Callus were trying to make in roads - however the pitch was causing us a few issues - James Roberts was supporting Billy brilliantly down the right - Mac Dickinson and Toby Bendall defending well - and in goal Jack Baldwin Meek had punched his card and was ready for work - and didn't he put a shift in - Brilliant today Jack - up top George King working his socks off as usual - our opening goal was created by the brilliant Billy Wilson - James Roberts with a great defence splitting pass put Wilson through - only to see his shot crash off the post - the ball came out to Louis Callus who with his back to goal and with a Cruyff turn span and crashed the ball into the nett 1-0 Brilliant James Billy Louis.
I was hoping we would now go up through the gears and get a second - however this was not to be - FC Highnam ran us close in the League and were not going to be a push over - and boy did they come at us - Town were put under immense pressure - and Highnam were awarded a penalty - which I certainly feel was dubious - Aston clearly took the ball - and was so unlucky to concede the Penalty - Highnams striker stepped up and struck a powerful shot - However Jack Baldwin Meek was equal to it - and pulled off a great save - Fantastic Jack well done - this didn't dampen Hingham's spirits as they came at us again and again - and they got a well deserved equaliser -
Saul Fox was the stand out player for Highnam - and he brought Town back to earth with a bump - with a great finish to make it 1-1.
Town got themselves together - in a contest that was cancelling itself out in many areas of the pitch - a true Cup Final nerves and the desire to win and compete for everything - every inch - Mac Dickinson hit the bar with a free kick - unlucky Mac.
Then Highnam took the lead again through the impressive Fox - Town were guilty of just standing off and letting him through on goal - and Fox dispatched a good finish - 1-2.
Now we had to rally the troops - we are not League Champions for nothing - the never say die attitude and fight was there for all to see - and just when you want to land that sucker punch - just before halftime George King provided that sucker punch - Louis Callus with a long throw into the box - which found King - who turned and crashed the ball into the net - Brilliant Louis and George 2-2 Game On
Town now with the slope and wind advantage put Highnam on the back foot - Callus - Wilson - Jeffs and James - trying to got hold of midfield - an area you didn't have time to breath in - fast furious battle zone - absolutely no quarter given by either Team -
Town now having the better of the play on a very difficult surface (we are spoilt at the park - aka Bowling Green) - and Bendall - Roberts - Dickinson - Baldwin Meek - shutting up shop for a while - well done lads -
Then Town got the break through they deserved - Taylor Morris Porter (who had replaced Billy Hill Wilson) broke through Highnams defence to cross the ball into the box for Bailey James to crash in Towns third goal of the game - Brilliant Taylor and Bailey 3-2 well done.
Joe Moore replaced Mac Dickinson at Left-back and got straight down to work - well done Joe -
Now with the clock winding down - with a few minutes left - Highnam threw everything at Town the kitchen sink - fridge - pots pans even the cat - Town failing to deal with a corner - were hit with a sucker punch - a very good finish from the edge of the box to make it 3-3 at Full-time
To The Pens
Guys to be honest this is a bit of a blur - I know the Highnam Keeper pulled off some Great saves - Jack Baldwin Meek was a colossus in Goal Today - pulled off some stunning saves - the whole team who were remaining on the pitch had all taken a penalty even the Keepers - with the pens set at 5-5 - we had to go through the whole team again - Louis had had his penalty well saved by the Highnam keeper said I want to put this right - so speaking to the boys we were going with George - Louis - Aston - Bailey - Taylor - in that order - Highnam stepped up and scored - 5-6 - George King steps up Big Big Cazzo's - great finish George 6-6 - Highnam step up and miss - now Louis Callus to win it - Big Big Cazzo's also - steps up hits a powerful shot - same side as his first pen - Highnams keeper gets across and gets two good hands on the ball - but there is enough power to take the ball over the line 7-6 - well done lads all of you - Rory Davis and Jake Powell didn't get on today - but were brilliant as always supporting their teammates - celebrations - pile on Louis - supporters going wild - Brilliant
