Four-goal hero Alex Baldacchino was the toast of Fawcett Fields on Saturday, as New Milton regained local bragging rights with a superb 5-1 away win at Lymington Sports Ground.
Baldacchino and Harrison Gilkes were on the mark cancelling out Chris Marwood's strike, in the early part of the second period.
All this after James Lester produced a superb penalty save to deny Marwood, when New Milton were 2-1 ahead, and the game in the balance.
It was a deserved win by the Linnets who made light work of their off colour opponents, who have now lost six games from the last eight.
"Delighted with the win," said Linnets midfielder Tom Barge. "Awesome, we are getting a decent side together now.
"It was a great result. Hopefully we can use this to go on a decent run and get as far up the table as we can."
For Lymington boss Stuart Hussey the game turned on the missed penalty from Marwood, score that and the Town boss reckoned the momentum would have been firmly with his side.
"The missed penalty was a key factor," he said. "Score that, we are all level and it's game on - things would have gone our way.
"Then we had no option but to chase the game a bit more and throw caution to the wind. It all hinged on the penalty.
"As it was the course of the game changed, New Milton went on and won the game by a bigger amount than what they perhaps should of.
"Naturally we are disappointed, but we have to dust ourselves down and concentrate on the next game."
Stuart Williamson was in the thick of the action at the start, tipping over from Scott Chester and preventing Dan Fox from putting through his own net.
Having had a goal chalked off for offside Marwood volleyed carelessly over from four yards, when it was easier to score.
Baldacchino paid for that indiscretion by netting a from close range. Chester doing the donkey work down the by-line and cut it back for Baldacchino to fire home.
Alex Moth went close moments later and Williamson was well positioned to hold Fox lashed attempt at clearing a Callum Davies cross.
Whitcher wildly shot wide as Town came out with better purpose in the second period. But New Milton, always a threat on the counter-attack, doubled their lead when Chester's screwed shot fell into Gilkes path who turned and arrowed a shot into the bottom corner.
Hussey's men reduced the arrears when Luke Watts pass fed Marwood and the former Totton mans scuffed shot, rolled gently in off the post.
Sam Carter struck the outside of the post and Fox headed wide from close quarters in an effort to find the leveller.
Another chance came when Mulhern was cynically clipped by Gareth Snelling in the box to gift Lymington a penalty.
Lester stood up to the plate and saved Marwood's half hearted spot-kick low down to hand the initiative back to New Milton.
It was then the Baldacchino show, who added a third when a speculative shot evaded everyone and found it's way past Williamson into the bottom corner.
Mulhern and Byres were denied in quick succession by Lester and Williamson got down well to prevent Baldacchino from a hat-trick.
Five minutes from time the treble arrived. Baldacchino got goal side of Gareth Byres and emphatically volleyed home Gilkes cross.
There was still time for the striker to add a New Milton's fifth, and his fourth. Davies the archetect, his pass found Baldacchino who took one touch before picking his spot past a stranded Williamson.
