Today was an opportunity to judge the recent progress of the Lions against a Trafford White team who beat us comprehensively in March. Lions started well moving the ball smoothly down court and winning several turnovers. Trafford are a well drilled unit and the first quarter was very close with the Lions edging into a 4-3 lead. Trafford then played some excellent netball with accurate shooting while the Lions struggled to maintain possession and feed the ball into the shooters. The half time whistle went with Trafford in the lead by 8-6. Lions re- grouped, making a couple of positional changes and started the third quarter in positive fashion. Despite greater possession and shooting opportunities the ball kept lipping out on the shots and Trafford finished the quarter still leading by 11-10. Lions determination and fighting spirit that has been so apparent in recent weeks then kicked in and they battled very hard closing down space, marking tightly and passing accurately. The lead swung both ways with supporters from both teams (very!) loudly urging their teams on. With a minute to go the Lions took the lead and then some excellent defending resulted in a turnover which they capitalised on and scored quickly to win by 16-14. Thank you to all the parents for their excellent support and WELL DONE to ALL the Lions on a fantastic team performance.
