President's Welcome

It is an honour to be appointed as your Club President and I would like to thank you all and welcome our Madras community back to Station Park and to the new season ahead.
I would like to firstly thank our outgoing President Colin McAdam for all his hard work and efforts during his term as President and his continued ongoing work to support the Club. Like many of our other volunteers at Madras Rugby Club, Colin has committed his time, energy, and passion to ensure Madras continues to function throughout such an extraordinary time. Colin, on behalf of Madras RFC, we extend our thanks and gratitude for everything you have done.
For those who do not know me, I continue to play for our Senior Team, coach SLM Blues and my children play within the Madrascals and SLM Blues sections. In my day job, I am a Director at the University of St Andrews and have held the role of Madras Club ticket Manager for the past 5 years.
On the back of such an unprecedented and unexpected end to our 2019/20 season and the impact on our 2020/21 season, I am excited that all age groups have returned to training and the long-awaited return to competitive rugby has commenced.
Before the pandemic hit, the Club was flying high, with success on and off the field throughout the Club. Our Clubhouse was vibrant and membership was growing.
I think we will all agree that we must now look forward as a Club and through safe practice and where guidance allows, put the pandemic behind us and celebrate the return of the Club we all love, by supporting our teams, social events, and club activities. Madras Rugby Club has a fantastic history and with your help and support, we can ensure this great Club thrives for generations to come.
With any Club, we are only as strong as our member's participation, and although there may be disagreements at times, our foundations are built on the work and time of volunteers, committee members, and support from our membership.
As a Club, we need you now more than ever and will do as much as we can to ensure Madras is an attractive place to train, play and visit and follows the values will instill in our players and Club community.
Inevitably there will still be obstacles to overcome, however, I and your Committee and Club staff promise to ensure that we will do everything we can and our very best for the benefit of our members and the Madras Rugby family.
I look forward to our season ahead and seeing you at the Club.
“For King, Law, and People”
