Following a disappointing match call off the week previous our P7’s rose to the occasion and went in with pumped muscles and a thirst that Robinson Crusoe would have been proud of. A very nervous start (well for the spectators) the P7’s went into the game with gusto with some crunching tackles from James Masson, Harry Morrice and Ben Caton.
The boys pushed forward but could not get across the line until Joseph Martin took the ball from a heavy ruck and on to score our first try of the tournament. A 1-0 win against the BATS. Match 2 was tense with a 1-1 score post half time the try coming from an exceptional run by Ali Primmer. However the boys outplayed North Berwick and Ben Caton gave the boys the win. Final score 2-1 to Madras. The third match was to be mentally and physically challenging for the boys. The rivals Currie have always been a team to hold but on this occasion they held us to a 3-3 draw. The equaliser coming from Currie after a lucky unseen forward pass was made and there strong number 12 pushing through to score the try. Scorers Ben Caton and two from Campbell Palmer
. Overall the boys had had an overwhelming result and were pushed out of the final by tries scored by Currie. The final game was a third place match against Herriots. Unfortunately the boys had put so much effort into their other matches there was almost nothing left. However they fought strong overcoming injuries and a try came from Campbell Palmer
. Herriots finally played their game and drove through for a 3-1 win.
Overall placed 4th in the tournament
A fantastic result for our boys of which Myself, Nick, Dale, Andy and Baz are proud of.
