First and crucially were the hosts themselves and Madras started well with good defence against relentless attack. Despite having much of the possession, Madras failed to find the space they required to break through and Stew Mel's speed and quick handling saw them end 6 - 0 winners. After the disappointment of the first game, Madras didn't start well against Accies and were 2 - 0 down by half time. The second half started in the same vein with Accies running in an almost unchallenged try. Something clicked then in the Madrascals' minds and the remainder of the half saw incredible improvement, with Craig Sloan pushing through into space and scoring. Griffin Levy then decided he wanted some of the action and shot through to score in the corner. The final score was 3 - 2 to Accies but Madras were feeling better for winning the second half. No substitutes meant that Madras were getting tired and the disappointment of the first 2 losses meant that their despondency increased to give Currie a easy ride in the last match to win 5 - 0. It was a good tournament with strong opposition and Madras have plenty to think about over the October break. Much of their problem lies in their heads and not in their ability, as with all pistons firing they are hard to beat.
