The first game was against Perthshire and saw our boys learning to come to terms with the match format and the idea of playing rugby with other boys they do not know. The first half was difficult with Perthshire well drilled and running directly which our lads struggled to match. The second half saw a marked improvement but we were still unable to turn lots of passing into much forward movement.
The big plus’s being the tackling, which was nice and low with two hands, and the passing of the ball.

The second game between Perthshire and Kirkcaldy was a closer affair with Kirkcaldy coming out on top with some good individual tries from both sides.

In the final game Madrascals acquitted themselves much better against a well drilled Kirkcaldy team. The first half saw a marked improvement in the boys pushing forward and the movement of the defensive line was much better, restricting Kirkcaldy to just a couple of scores. In the second half Madrascals came on strong with great runs from Jamie Falconer, Joe Balsillie & Thomas Russell culminating in Cameron Steven running in for a great score in the corner.
Again the tackling was superb and by far the best of the three teams on show!

The match will provide lots for us to work on in training and stand us in good stead for some more friendly’s ahead of our first tournament.
