As usual it was a little chilly with the temperature barely above 2 degrees but this did not cool our enthusiasm for what turned out to be a superb day of rugby. The team for the Mackie tournament comprised of Logan Parsons, Finlay Foulkes, Scott Christie, Tom Pendry, Liam O’Brion, Jennifer Wares, Angus McCallum and Callum Cook.

Keen to put their hard work into practice the first match was against The Pinks a team made up of substitutes from other teams. They were not to be underestimated as The Pinks put up a valiant fight with Madrascals struggling to find their feet during the match resulting in a 4-4 draw. Not to be deterred and after a post match pep talk Madrascals bounced back against local club Howe. At half time both sides were even with no tries, Madrascals dug deep and with excellent defending, teamwork and a last minute flourish from Callum pulled together a 3-1 victory.

After finding their winning way Madrascals faced tough opposition from Aberdeen Grammar, a physically bigger team, Madrascals had to work hard to attack and breach the Aberdeen defence. Working together Madrascals secured another victory 3-2. The final match of the day was against Mackie Blacks, Madrascals on a high from two previous wins were eager to get the match underway. The game got underway with brilliant defending from Madrascals, each player committing themselves, with two try saving tackles from Tom and Liam and consistent scoring throughout from Logan and Finlay.

Well done to the team who have shown dedication in both their matches and training through continuous hard work. The P5 Player Award for outstanding performance was awarded to Callum Cook who showed commitment to tackling and team work. A special mention also to Liam who even though is relatively new to the team has made his mark through his continuous improvement and dedication.
