A fantastic end to what has been a great season for our U14 and U15s

For the second week-end in a row, it was all hands to the deck at Station Park as Madras U15 and U14 Blues this time entertained around 18 teams from as far away as Wick, Aberdeen, Stirling and Falkirk for their end of season’s Rugby Sevens Tournament.

Large crowds enjoyed a festival of fast flowing and entertaining play at a pace that was more akin to peak season.

Madras U15s played 3 slick group games that they won comfortably to reward themselves with a final place against Stirling County in a repeat showdown of last week’s tightly contested 15-a-side Caledonia Cup Final.

This was again a very closely fought game and Madras were unlucky not to salvage a draw, instead going down by just two points.

Meanwhile, Madras U14’s also got through to their group final and rounded off a great day with a victory over local rivals, Howe of Fife, to collect the winners medals.

A worthy finish to a remarkable year which has seen the Blues emerge as serious competition in the Scottish rugby scene. Coaches, committee, parents, and players should be enormously proud of their efforts this season and deserve a huge amount of credit for being resolute in focussing on the boys’ rugby development. An exciting 2016/17 season is not far away.

The final action this season sees a Madrascals Tournament. Keep checking for more details and times.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend. I know I will (Very proud)
