UKCC LEVEL 1

The UKCC Level 1 in Coaching (Rugby Union) is a practical-based course, taught over two days and one evening. It includes opportunities to coach and develop your coaching. The overall aim of this course is to enable you to coach players under some direction, for example from a head coach or coaching co-ordinator.

Coaches applying for the UKCC level 1 course must have attended the mandatory RugbyReady annual practical course

Is the UKCC Level 1 suitable for me?

Due to the focus of the course being your coaching delivery skills (how you coach), Scottish Rugby recomends that every coach commences their qualifications at UKCC Level 1.

Qualified PE teachers who have attended the mandatory RugbyReady practical course and possess relevant rugby coaching experience can progress directly to UKCC level 2.

How to apply

Following Sportscotland's review of funding to support the cost of UKCC courses for eligible coaches, an outline of the new application and subsidy process for all coaches / teachers who are working to grow the game in Scotland within our member clubs and schools is detailed below.

In order to qualify for the subsidised price of £30 for a Level 1 - candidates are asked to provide additional information on Scottish Rugby's UKCC course application form. Should the criteria for subsidy not be met, then candidates will be asked to pay the full price of £175. This will ensure that only coaches who are actively growing the game in our member clubs and schools are able to take advantage of the subsidised price. (Coaches who are operating in other Unions or our-with our member clubs and schools will be charged £175.)

As a result the price of UKCC courses will remain as published for eligible coaches for the remainder of the year. These may be subject to change during the 2012-13 financial year.

Candidates are asked to complete the application form as fully as possible and return as per the instructions at the foot of the application forms.
