On a sunny day in St Andrews, Madras Rugby Club were to continue the charge in this seasons league battles against our neighbours across the water in Panmure. Panmure had a depleted team through injuries and rugby offenses, whereas Madras were able to field probably one of the strongest teams this season, with the return of a number of Army personnel from courses and injuries and locals through farming duties.

Panmure kicked off and it was evident that this was going to be a one-sided match with 3 tries within the space of 8 minutes for Madras. Panmure though did not let this affect them and they continued to do the best they could with their weakened squad. Even though Madras were the stronger team, the control that was shown by the team was very professional as they are fully aware that will be coming up against Alloa and Harris who are top of the table, so technique, focus and set pieces needed to be controlled throughout the game. Sadly scrum half Ollie Rust had to be replaced after 24 minutes as he hit the ground hard after a excellent tackle from one of the Panmure boys.

It was great to have local boys back after a busy harvest in Peter Wallace who opened up his season with a well worked try. Further tries came from Soulsby, Nailaitica, Komaiyasa, Willis, McCulloch plus kicking duties by Frankie MacArthur who is having an excellent season with the boot.

Final Score was 111-8 to Madras. This weekend sees Madras on the road to Blairgowrie which will be a tough encounter however the boys are well and truly up for this season.
