Magherafelt Sky Blues First Team produced a super performance on Saturday to defeat Mountjoy 4-1 at Spires Park.

Goals from Ciaran Monaghan (2)(pictured) and Thomas Beattie (2) secured the win. As Seamus Quinn builds for next season this was an excellent win with new players performing well. The Firsts Team travel to Strabane next weekend.

The Reserves game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. They are at home next Saturday to Mallusk Athletic.

In youth football the Under 16’s maintained their fine league form to beat Dungannon Youth 3-2. This result means the young Blues stay at the top of the league with five fixtures remaining. Aidan Doyle (pictured) was the hero as he scored the all important winner. The U16 Blues travel to Armagh City next Saturday who currently sit second in the league.

The Under 14 team were defeated 2-0 away to Portadown. This was their first ever defeat against Portadown in four fixtures. A mixture of fatigue and missed opportunities were the order of the day as they failed to build on last weeks victory against Cookstown. A home fixture against Ballymoney Youth is on the cards for next Saturday.

The Under 13 team were defeated 4-1 at home to Armagh City. They started the game brightly and after Mark McGrogan headed off the post David Lennox gave them the lead with a 30 yard screamer. However, Armagh, who are undefeated throughout the season stormed back in style and demonstrated the qualities which has taken them to the top of the league. The U13 travel to Tollymore next Saturday in the NIBFA Cup.

The Under 12 team played table topping Carniny Youth but got hit by a sucker punch last minute equaliser. The young Blues driven on by, man of the match, Cormac Murphy played superbly throughout the game but failed to get that all important second goal. Murphy was the Blues goalscorer and the team will be hoping to get all three points as they are home next Saturday to Maiden City.

The Under 11 game was cancelled due to a frozen pitch. They travel to Aquinas next Saturday in the NIBFA Cup.
