A superb achievement by any stretch of the imagination and a testimony how far the club have come in recent years.
The Firsts played out the normal blood and thunder derby tie against Draperstown Celtic at Spires Park. The highly competitive game ended one each with Thomas Beattie scoring his second goal in two consecutive games. The Reserves fell well short in their away game against Ballyclare Reserves as they limped home on the back of a 5-1 defeat.
The Under 16’s continue to ride high on an impressive season so far. Still unbeaten in January the Blues recorded a 5-0 victory to keep them at the top of the league table. The whole club are watching this young team as it will certainly provide many players for the senior team in the years to come. The Under 14’s slipped out of the NIBFA cup. A 3-1 scoreline in favour of Holywood was no disgrace but the young Blues will be disappointed with the result.
The Under 13 team played some superb football to defeat a competitive and energetic Cookstown Youth side in the NIBFA cup. Goals from Mark McGrogan, Padraig McGrogan and David Lennox (pictured) eased the home side through 3-1.The Under 12’s 2-0 away win at Bertie Peacock Youth has helped them to record a five game unbeaten run. Despite an indifferent performance the young Blues had enough to secure all three league points. Congratulations to Harry Evans on his first ever goal for the club.
The Under 11’s made up for their previous weeks frustrations as they went goal crazy against Limavady Youth. Their 8-1 success was capped by a superb individual performance and hat-trick from Conleth McGuckin. Captain Eoghan Hawe also bagged two for himself. Finally the U10’s playing in the George Best Cup, first ever competitive match, recorded a 1-0 victory over Lurgan Town Boys. In a nail biting game that went to extra-time Ryan Lennox popped up to turn home the winner in the very last minute.
