Southport Amateurs 1 vs 9 Maghull
A good end of season workout.
This was an end of season friendly arranged to have a look at some of the trialists that came along to training & also two Maghull U7 players.
It was a good environment to play football in for kids our level, especially for those that have experienced Hightown with the noise, expectation, competitiveness & awful pitches. We told the kids prior to the game to express themselves & not worry about making mistakes, to also use the big pitch & grass to our advantage.
Anyhow all the kids did this in abundance in both the first & second halves by creating some lovely passing moves as well as being mature in their positioning & use of the pitch. We had two different teams out there today in both halves & you wouldn't of thought that it was the first time they had played together. We scored a hatful of goals & created even more as well as being competitive without the ball by working hard to get it back.
All the trialists did themselves proud & we now have a few more games lined up over the next few Saturdays, which will hopefully stretch them a bit more & give them a chance to shine.
Full Time : 1-9
Player of the Game : Ryan worked hard & deserved his four goals, Sean Clarke & Patrick also did themselves proud by playing well in the year above age group.
