The player development centre was an initiative set up by the Berks and Bucks FA, and other county FA's to give young players a chance to develop their football through a higher standard coaching with the possibility of a pathway into academy football.
Trials were held in September and all 3 players from Maidenhead girls u14 who attended were selected to join the squads. Team captain Chelsea Jumratie was selected at the U15 age group. Emma Walker and Kajal Malhotra were selected at the u13 age group.
After 8 weeks of coaching this was to be the squads first game together.
The u13's played at 9 aside and their match was split into 3 periods of half an hour. Both Kajal and Emma played in the first period with Kajal playing right midfield and Emma in the centre. They won the first period 3-2 with Kajal setting up one goal and scoring the third goal after some good play by Emma. Kajal sat out the second period with Emma staying on the pitch. This period ended 1-1. Kajal replaced Emma in the last period which also ended 1-1. So the team actually won 5-4 on the day with both girls doing well and not looking out of place at this level.
The u15's played 2 halves of 40 minutes. Chelsea playing at left midfield. The first half finished 1-1 with Chelsea setting up the goal. The second half finished 0-0 so the match ended all square. Chelsea shared the player of the match award with another girl.
All 3 girls did well on the day and can be proud of their achievements so far.
The coaching continues in January with another game planned for sometime in April.
