Through to next round of FA Youth Cup

Aaron Steadman reports: A good performance by the Youth team sees them through to the 3rd qualifying round of the FA Youth cup.

Maidenhead started very strongly and within a minute Ryan Tye was slotted in by Jack Banks, only for the Kidlington keeper to pull off a very good save from 6 yards. A few minutes later Jack Banks had an effort from 30 yards crash off the cross bar, the rebound was cleared by a Kidlington defender. Kidlington did have a 5 minute spell, where they kept the ball well but couldn't penetrate the Maidenhead defence. On 30 minutes, Jonny Giles won a corner for Maidenhead, Devante McKain popped up in the box only for his header to come off the crossbar. The rebound fell to Ryan Tye who hit the ball goal bound, but yet again the Kidlington keeper pulled off a good save. Maidenhead pressed again with Jonny Giles hitting the post late on in the half. It somehow ended goal less at half time with Maidenhead missing alot of chances to take the lead.

Maidenhead came out in the second half knowing the early goal would settle the frustration of the first half, and did just that. Johnathon Hippolyte played a reverse pass through the Kidlington defence which Dale Wright got on the end of; he rounded the keeper and slotted home from a very tight angle 1-0.

Maidenhead kept up the pressure from the restart with Jack Alder in midfield working hard to win the ball back. He played the ball to Ryan Tye who beat his man and passed the ball inside the Kidlington box to the advancing Dale Wright, He turned his man who hauled him down inside the box, penalty to Maidenhead. Johnathon Hippolyte stepped up and cooly slotted home 2-0 Maidenhead.

Kidlington kept the ball from the restart with Maidenhead sitting in happy for the ball to be played in front of them. Kidlington worked an opening in the Maidenhead defence but it was dealt with by Harry Baddeley in a one v one. The game opened up now and Maidenhead started workng openings in the opposing defence. Jonny Giles picked up the ball on the half way line beating two Kidlington players he played a one two with Dale Wright, he carried on into the box and placed the ball passed the advancing keeper 3-0 Maidenhead. Again, Maidenhead won the ball straight back off Kidlington from the restart, and pressed forward Ryan Debbattista. Advancing into the Kidlington box, he played a ball across into the 6 yard area where Johnathon Hippolyte slotted the ball home 4-0. The game finished 4-0 with Maidenhead missing a late penalty for a blatent foul on Jonny Giles.

Maidenhead youth now face an away tie at Oxford City in the 3rd qualifying round of the FA Youth cup. The winners of that have a huge draw away to League 2 side Bristol Rovers in the 1st round proper.
