Maidenhead run of defeats continued as they fell to three Dartford goals in the final quarter of the game in Kent.
The final scoreline gave a somewhat lopsided impression of a game in which Maidenhead competed well and for large parts looked capable of winning.
The first half was an open entertaining forty five minutes with both sides going close to taking the lead. For Maidenhead Alex Wall hit the crossbar in the fifth minute with an acrobatic volley, and a Kieran Knight deflected shot from distance in the thirteenth minute forced goalkeeper Andrew Young to a one handed save at full stretch.
Dartford's frontline consisted of two strikers who had been a thorn in Maidenhead's flesh in the past. John Main couldn't quite capitalise on a couple of neat through balls, but partner Charlie Sheringham twice went close forcing a brave save at his feet by Steve Williams in the fourteenth minute and then seeing Jamal Fyfield clear a close range effort of the half way line just after half an hour.
The game remained in the balance in the second half and Maidenhead again came close to opening the scoring early on. First a Martel Powell short was inadvertently turned onto the crossbar by defender Paul Goodacre, then a neat pass from Kieran Knight put Alex Wall in the clear only for a defender to block his shot.
Dartford were looking increasingly dangerous from set pieces and this approach paid dividends with twenty two minutes remaining when a long throw from the right by Matt Jones found Sheringham free at the near post, the striker stooping to head home from close range.
Maidenhead continued to push for a goal and the addition of loan signing Jerome Federico on the left wing almost provided the ammunition with three minutes remaining when his lightning fast run left the Dartford defence for dead. A good cross went wanting for an attacking touch and the home team quickly counter attacked, a Ryan Hayes cross being converted by Elliot Bradbrook to seal the points. Deep into injury time Dartford rubbed salt into Maidenhead's wounds when Bradbrook pounced on the loose ball to score his second after Williams had saved a header from Sheringham.
