A win is a win
After losing to top of the league last week Maidenhead looked to bounce back against Andover town and secure 3 points to put distance between themselves and Bashley.
Maidenhead started the brighter of the two teams with Bradley Keetch opening the scoring. Louis Cowton took a deep free-kick and the Andover back line could not deal with the long ball, the ball found its way to Keetch who glided past one player and his left-footed shot flew into the corner past the keeper who didn't move. Maidenhead dominated the rest of the second half but could not fashion a clear opportunity to double their lead.
The second half was a scrappy affair with the wind and the uneven pitch causing havoc. Maidenhead performance levels dropped which gave Andover the glimpse of hope they needed. 30 minutes into the second half they made it 1-1 through a defensive error. A ball played down the right then crossed in and the unmarked attacker headed the ball into the net.
Maidenhead had Louis Cowton to thank to make sure Andover didn't double their advantage with a smart save at his near post on a counter attack.
Maidenhead rolled the dice and introduced Thaon Richardson into the game who to play a decisive part in the outcome of the game. With two minutes to go Maidenhead a throw in which was launched into the box by Toby Crouch, the ball was headed out and Alfie Matthews kept it alive and headed the ball back into the area, The ball landed at the feet of Thaon Richardson, with a quick spin and shot the ball rolled into the bottom corner to give Maidenhead a 2-1 lead.
Second time in a many week's Maidenhead have claimed a win in the dying minuted of the game.
