York Road welcomed Abingdon United for the Berks & Bucks FA Senior Invitation Cup quarter final Match report by Mark Smith The Magpies moved into the semi-finals of the County Cup where they will play away to either Chesham United or Slough Town - that match being played next Tuesday, 17th. Paul Semakula got the team off to a flying start when he scored with a stinging shot inside the first three minutes. The visitors were awarded a debatable penalty (possibly for holding down a player) which they converted to make the score 1-1, but the Magpies restored their advantage from the spot after Ashan Holgate was clipped by Foster in the Abingdon goal. Manny Williams scored with aplomb. The second half saw Abingdon giving everything they had to try and get back into the match but they failed to trouble Billy Lumley and as they tired, Maidenhead took full advantage. In the last ten minutes, Martel Powell got free on the right and his shot was palmed by Foster to Ashan Holgate who thumped the ball home. In injury time, Alex Wall got clear and unselfishly passed the ball to Williams who knocked it into the empty net.
