A nervous start to the game as both teams squandering possession easily. Both goal keepers kept relatively quiet in the opening exchanges with no clear cut chances for both teams yet.
Ten minutes in and the game seems to spring to life as abbey hey rattle the crossbar with a shot. A stroke of luck for Maine road who are saved by the woodwork. Still nil-nil.
13 minutes in and another chance for abbey hey as the number 7 does well to get down the right hand side and whips the ball into the number 9 but her narrowly heads wide.
14 minutes in and a turn of the tide for Maine road as abbey hey are caught sleeping and jack Langford slots the ball through for Rick Williams who fires it past the keeper and makes it 1-0 to Maine road. Abbey hey will feel hard done by after they hit the cross bar in the opening minutes but Maine road have done well to switch back on and be clinical enough to take the lead. 1-0 Maine road.
Next ten minutes sees a few half chances for Maine road and a penalty appeal on Connor Hughes but the referee says no penalty and awards a goal kick.
24 minutes in and abbey hey no.9 makes a good run down the right hand side and fires the ball in across goal but the number 10 for abbey hey cannot get on the end of it and it rolls out for a goal kick.
25 minutes and road are awarded a free kick just outside the area but the free kick is hit too well and fires over the bar.
26 minutes in and the number 9 for abbey who has been there most productive player finds his way down the left hand side and puts in another cross that is headed over the bar once again.
27 minutes in and a good reaction by Maine road as Matthew Morgan finds Rick Williams and his shot is blocked by the defender and goes out for a corner.
33 minutes in and ex Maine road player George Newsham has a extravagant shot that goes well wide. The abbey old faithful not impressed by his effort.
37 minutes and a long kick from the keeper is not dealt with by the Maine road back four and the abbey hey striker slots it past Ryan livesy
42 minutes and abbey hey have a ambitious effort that takes Ryan livesy a good effort to keep out as he is the ball is nearly lobbed over him. Ryan does well to jump up and keep it out.
The last chance of the half falls to Maine road as Connor Hughes plays a wonderful pass through that puts Jamie roe in on goal but the defender does to get back just in time to clear the ball away.
Half time 1-1The half time whistle sees Maine road having a good first half however abbey hey have had the most opportunities to score with Ryan livesy being the more active goal keeper in the game so far. With the pace of game starting off tentatively both teams settled in well and began to create good chances for a enthralling cup tie.
A good chance was wasted by Maine road in the early minutes of the second half as Rick Williams does well and fires the ball in to Matthew Morgan but the ball takes a slight deflection off the 747 that was passing over at the time as the ball goes way over the bar.
50 minutes in and Ryan makes a good save with his legs and it's cleared away by the Maine road defence.
52 minutes in a the first booking of the game is shown to james ormrod for a tackle on the abbey hey number 8. It was a harsh decision by the referee as the player seemed to fall over the ball rather than being fouled by James ormrod.
58 minutes in a the best chance of the half falls to Maine road as a short corner is taken by Conor Hughes who plays a one-two with the Matthew Morgan and the ball finds Rick Williams who strikes the post and then glances the post with his rebound and it goes out for a goal kick. A lucky escape for abbey hey to not find themselves behind.
65 minutes and a half chance for Maine road as jack Langford slots Rick Williams through on goal but Williams is judged offside.
A few seconds later though abbey hey are put in and a good chance for them to take the lead but John Mason denies them the lead.
68 minutes and Ryan does well to come for the cross and catch the cross. Then there seems to be an altercation between Ryan and the number 10 from abbey hey which results both men warranting a yellow card.
69 minutes played and abbey heys most productive player is coming off as the number 9 is replaced. A strange choice of substitution from the abbey hey coaching team.
76 minutes played sees Maine road make there first substitution as Morgan makes way for joe obrien
77 minutes in sees poor defending all around for road as a cheap free kick is given away and abbey hey capitalise on the chance as poor marking results in the number 10 rising above road and heading the ball past Ryan livesy. 2-1 abbey hey.
79 minutes sees the number 7 subbed off for abbey hey. 83 minutes played and it's do or die time for Maine road as they make the substitution to bring on attacking threat in tom keyworth who replaces jack blundell as Maine road switch to a back three consisting of John Mason, Louie innis and jack poxon.
85 minutes sees Conor Hughes strike a superb free kick in to the top left hand corner. No touch was required for it to go in as it bemused the keeper and makes the score 2-2.
87 minutes Jamie roe makes way retrospectively for Dominick Williams who comes on to compact the defence as Maine road look to take the tie back to brantingham for the replay.

The game ends 2-2 and Maine road leave it late for second fa cup game in a row to keep themselves in the competition. Not the best performance from the blues but they will be happy they get another bite at the cherry at this abbey hey side and look to advance into the next round.
