Young Guns ease to T20 win
Our first T20 encounter of the season saw us chalk up a comfortable win against Terling at Drapers Farm.
The T20 campaign is underway with Terling visiting Drapers Farm last night.
Captain Harris began adulthood by losing the toss and Terling opted to bat.
Opening the bowling was Jonny Barratt and back from university Mark Foster. Barratt's early double strike saw Terling 2 for 2. A 30 partnership saw the visitors recover but they were not scoring at a rate to concern Harris. He replaced the pace attack with 8 overs of spin from Ross Walpole and Michael Foster that saw 5 more wickets fall. Whilst Walpole got 3 wickets including 2 very good catches from Jamie Glenn and Mark Foster, it was young Michael Foster who shone with his 4 overs returning figures of 2 for 9. Elder brother Mark rejoined the attack late on to help himself to a couple of wickets and Terling finished on 93-9 from their 20 overs.
This total looked seriously under par as openers Harris and Jack Riley put on a comfortable 50 partnership in just 7 overs. They both fell in quick succession when the score was on 64 having notched 20 and 30 respectively. Glenn and Coker saw Maldon home within 14 overs with Glenn finishing on 21 not out from not many balls including a big six for the winning runs.
Next up are the cup favourites Hatfield Peverel who always field a strong side, but these Maldon Young Guns will go there with a good win under their belt.
