Joint training session and training games with MRFC 14s resulted in good development exercise with some good competitive action thrown in.
Interesting start to the new season for the Barbarians today. A wonderful morning for rugby. Challenges with the number of players available meant that the Barbarians were short of the full 15, as were Redditch, it was agreed that a joint training session and training games were to go ahead. Also short of numbers were Malvern u14s so they joined in with the joint training and then the training games with Redditch.
It was good to welcome back some familiar faces that we haven’t seen in pre-season.
The u14 lads aquitted themselves well, but the extra strength and size of some of the Redditch players, coupled with knowing each other better, meant that they had units that were successful in the training games . The exercise was a success and during the training games the Barbarians ended up losing by 4 or 5 tries to 0. Working on decision making under pressure should help going forward.
Thanks to all the lads who played in this triple way joint training session and games.
