Good Game Played in the Right Spirit with Our Friends From Kings Norton
Firstly apologies for the lack of a match report last week, this being due to lack of time.
Today we welcomed a Kings Norton team. The game was played in four 15 minute quarters. From the very start you could see lads were well up for the challenge and shortly after kick off and following some great pressure Ben Crouch was sent over in the corner for a very well crafted try. The quarter continued to see the Barbarian's playing some great rugby without further scoring. Much against the run of play and following a long clearance kick, we conceded a converted try. No further scoring in the first period which ended with Kings Norton leading by 7 points to 5.
The second period started and soon saw the Barbarian's take control. Fynnley with the coaches words ringing in his ears pinned back his ears and scored two quick fire tries. With our dominance in the scrum and breakdown it was not long before further try's followed the first being a driving run on debut by the hard working Sam Hill. A further score by Josh meant Barbarian's ended the quarter a healthy 29 points to 7 in front.
The third period was all together more competitive with Kings Norton gaining a second wind. They upped their game and tackled and rucked with renewed effort. There was no further score in this quarter. The final quarter gave us the chance to try out some positional changes. A final converted try saw the Barbarian's run out winners by 36 points to 7.
There was some very good individual performances but it was the way the lads played as a team from back to front every body put a shift in. The team spirit showed through.
Today we welcomed two new members who both fitted in very well.
Again a big thank you to JT for refereeing.
A fantastic days rugby watched by our head coach. Several players will be giving Marc a lot of food for thought in the selection meetings.
Thanks to Nick Powell for the write up.
Team selection has not been published for this fixture yet.
