Malvern get their 3rd win of the season with an impressive win over Shrewsbury. It was a scratch side for Malvern, who were without 5 regular players, but everyone stepped up to the changed circumstances.
Malvern started off with a fantastic try, as full-back Cye Caines was able to intercept a looping ball, and he ran 80 metres to score under the posts. This was converted by the day’s fly-half and captain Harvey Smedley.
Malvern were at it again, as a scrum inside Shrewsbury territory was taken blindside by scrum-half Harvey Patel, to touch down in the corner. Converted by Smedley.
Near the end of the 1st half, Malvern received a penalty, following a lot of pressure being put on Shrewsbury. Smedley took a quick tap penalty and skidded over for the try. (Half-time Malvern 19-0 Shrewsbury)
It was a debut for winger Charlie Bloomfield, who started off his Malvern Colts career in a promising manner. This game also marked the return from injury for forward Karl Daly, he capped of his incredible afternoon with a well worked try.
Smedley continued to live up to his captain status, with another try, earning himself the man of the match when he bundled over for another and converted his own try.
The game was brought to a close with 20 minutes to go, as the referee deemed the situation to have unsafe playing conditions, with the full-time score being Malvern 31-0 Shrewsbury.
Malvern continue their league campaign with a tough trip away at Dudley Kingswinford on the 11th November. 2pm Kick-off.
