After the rescheduling of this important Lancashire Cup match, Manchester did themselves proud. The lads were facing a squad physically much bigger than themselves, though we knew that it was an inexperienced, but game Trafford MV.
Kick off led to an fairly evenly matched game for the first few minutes until Manchester realised that they would have the advantage if they played to their strengths and moved the ball quickly away from the contact areas of the pitches, giving the game some width and exploiting their speed and agility, a tactic they would have been better using previously against Leigh.
Throughout the game the ball was moved well and this led to a number of try scorers across the team, and all tries were converted.
Try scorers were Matt Buckingham, a first try after 5 years!, Ciaran Booth
with three, Tom
Jones, Thom Walsh and Joe Pailin again with a first try for the club after running almost the length of the pitch.
Well done to the lads and roll on finals day on the 15th April.
A brief friendly half was then played verses Heaton Moor; unfortunately Manchester reverted to type and tried to take on a much bigger squad ad individuals. After a long half hour and some obvious fatigue following the Trafford game, Heaton Moor scored one try to give them a one half victory of 5 -0
