Following their recent sell out national tour of the critically acclaimed Hands Up for Jonny Wilkinson’s Right Boot the award winning Live Wire Theatre Company bring their hit show to Manchester Rugby Club with the support of the Rugby Football Union and the Arts Council England.

Hands Up for Jonny Wilkinson’s Right Boot - billed as “a riotous rugby romp” - begins when three fans meet in a Twickenham pub two hours before the kick off of a crucial England match. In the midst of an argument about the greatest moment in the game’s history, a stranger tells them the story of Frederick Stanley Jackson, a Cornish tin miner who had been on the first ever British Lions tour to New Zealand in 1908.

Travelling back and forth from the present day to the early 1900s, Hands Up for Jonny Wilkinson’s Right Boot is a fast paced comedy in which the five actors bring some of rugby’s greatest moments to life through a powerful combination of dramatic scenes, song and physical theatre which includes the reenactment of the All Blacks’ legendary Haka.
