Sam has been growing his hair for a year to raise funds for Ian Thompson's Tribute Fund, and is now seeking sponsors to have his hair cut.

In September 2013, Sam Davis, 1st XV rugby player, occasional CHCC 3rd team cricketer, and barman at the club, took the decision to grow his hair for a year to raise funds for Ian Thompson's Tribute Fund by seeking sponsors to have his hair cut.

On Saturday 27th November, after the 1st XV v Northwich match, Sam will be having his hair cut in the bar and you are cordially invited to watch and contribute to his chosen charity!

Ian coached Sam from the age of 13 to his introduction to 1st XV rugby at Manchester and had a massive influence on his development as well as being a dear friend. Sadly Ian died on 26th August 2011 from a relatively rare form of cancer, Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP), at just 55 years of age.

There is a Tribute Fund at The Christie giving hope and a chance to others with PMP, which is a fitting way to honour and cherish Ian's memory, and Sam has chosen to donate the proceeds from his sponsored haircut to the Fund.

It was fitting that, in May this year, Sam was jointly awarded the Ian Thompson Award for Coaching Services at the Club. Sam is now also coaching the club's successful u15's team, ensuring that Thommo's coaching legacy is being passed on to a new generation of young rugby players.

Sponsor forms behind the bar or donate/sponsor at Christies direct and benefit from Gift Aid at:
