Speedy Stockport sidestep The Tigers ferocious tagging.
Manchester Tigers were outgunned by Stockport. The Tigers fought valiantly but could not overcome the pace of a larger Stockport squad.
Game 1 saw Stockport winning the toss and electing to run the ball. From the off it was obvious that they had been putting a few moves together, with crossovers and good supporting runs making it hard for Manchester to push the visitors back. Stockport took the ball out wide and with electric pace went over for the first score of the day. The Tigers came back at them, however, in what became the theme for the day, the Tigers knocked on at the breakdown and Stockport took the initiative, from the advantage given, to run in a second try. The Tigers regrouped after half time and fought back to a 3-4 final score.
Game 2 saw Manchester taking the kick off and having lost Game 1, they were fired up for Stockport's full team of fresh replacements. Unfortunately this lead to lots of loose passes and knock ons and Manchester soon found themselves again on the back foot. In the second half, spurred on by a hefty knock to the face, Luke went 'tagtastic', taking 4 tags in a row to stop an imminent try and securing turnover ball for the Tigers. Sadly, not enough time was left to produce a victory from the efforts of all, but Stockport knew they were in a competitive match. Final score 1-3.
Game 3 again saw Manchester winning the toss and this time everything came together. Particular note has to be given to the Tigers second try of the match with Luke, Eddie and Josh throwing precision passes for Josh to stride over for the try of the day and secure him Man of the Match, and rightly so. It was great to see Josh back to his brilliant best, focussed and commited to the Tigers cause. With the last play of the game, Stockport sent in their speed demons and the game was drawn on the final whistle of the day, finishing 3-3.
Well done to all, this week's ferocious Tigers were (tries in brackets), Josh(3), Ollie, Finlay, Myles(1), Alex(1), Louis, William, Eddie, Luke(2), Matty and Tom.
Training this Sunday is from 10:00, see you all there!
