The 2017 Union Cup in Madrid, 28-30 April 2017

Three Spartans teams leave at the end of this week for Madrid to compete in the bi-annual European inclusive rugby championship.

The Union Cup, Plate and Bowl competitions will be held over two days of tournament play on Saturday and Sunday. 15 a side games over 40 minutes of rugby.

The 1st team will play in the Cup, the 2nd team on the Plate and the 3rd team in the Bowl.

Initially each team will play in pool of 4 at the tier playing level. Dependent on the outcome of the pool games, there are possible semi finals and finals on Sunday.

The Opening ceremony will be held on Friday 28th. The closing ceremony will be on Sunday 30th after finals games have been played.

The Spartans on tour in Madrid for the 2017 Union Cup, 28-30 April. Where they took their largest tour party ever consisting of 65 players across 3 teams with 19 support staff and club supporters.
The Spartans 1st team avoid relegation. Saturday 22nd April - With a stunning away win 41-29 at 3rd place New Brighton. The Spartans ensured they stay in division 3 South.
