Summer Rugby Returns to Manchester

4 years ago By Stefan Hopewell

Mancunians RL are back in 2012 - training starts this week.

2012 will be a big year for Rugby League in Manchester.

The Manchester College Rugby League Academy started in earnest this year. Manchester has been named as a host city for next year's world cup. Plus, BOTH flagship Super League events will be in Manchester, with the Magic Weekend joining the Grand Final in the UK's capital of sport.

But more importantly than all this - Mancunians RL pre-season training starts this week!

This Thursday evening sees the return of summer rugby in South Manchester with a new coach and hopefully some other new faces down at Broughton Park.

If you've been thinking 'I really need to do some exercise' or 'If that old man Steve Menzies can still play, I reckon I can', then get yourself down.

The club also runs social touch rugby sessions on Monday nights and is launching juniors (U'11's and Masters (Over 35's) this year.

Fixtures are currently being arranged and there are rumours of a big day out 'on the road' to kick off the season.

Training takes place on Thursday nights at Broughton Park, Mauldeth Road West, Chorlton, starting at 19:00.
