When Warwickshire rugby lost Robert 'Bob' Fulford on Sunday, November 25, an outpouring of admiration for the gentle giant arrived from team-mates and opponents alike for one of the sport's true gentlemen.
To many he was the dummy-throwing 6ft 8in colossus with pointy elbows and unforgiving high knees who carved a reputation on the pitch playing for Nuneaton, Manor Park and for his county.
For others he was the cheery fellow languidly turning over the pedals on his trusty bike up and down the roads of Nuneaton stacked precariously with pitchforks and spades or bundles of dirty kit on their way to the launderette.
But to all who were fortunate to share his company and look up into the widest smile and eyes that sparkled with warmth, one word rises to the top when recollecting his time on this earth; gentleman.
