JUDO, boxing, mountain climbing and – whisper it quietly – some rugby are on the agenda for Manor Park as they prepare for life back in Mids 3 West.

we are recruiting and have had positive approaches from players in the leagues above us.

A year after their relegation, Manor Park romped to promotion winning the title by an eye-rubbing 21 points.
Two knock-out competition successes later the club is now focusing on an exciting and action packed summer.
Head coach Kevin Venus, who won 22 of his 23 competitive games in charge of the club in his first campaign, agreed to stand for a second season at the AGM earlier this month.
He said: “Reflecting on the season we have just had it would be hard to imagine it could have gone any better.
“We had planned for promotion and succeeded. But winning the Warwickshire Vase and last weekend the Keresley 7s tournament were icing on an already glowing season.”
Park finished the 2015/16 campaign having averaged more than 34 points per game and finished with a points difference of more than 500 in the black.
With trips to the likes of Ledbury, Droitwich and Woodrush to come next season as well as a clutch of more local games with the likes of Bedworth, Old Coventrians and Old Leamingtonians – the challenge ahead for Park will be a stern one.
But Venus believes the brand of rugby the club plays is proving to be a unique selling point.
He added: “Now we must put that all behind us and move forward, already we are recruiting and have had positive approaches from players in the leagues above us.
“These players tell me they are coming for the brand of rugby we are playing having watched some of our games. It’s a nice compliment to the coaching staff and the players who have took to the field.
“Once again we will be running conditioning sessions started early in June with pre-season following on.
“We will be looking for some diversity, we will be working with the Red Phoenix Judokwai.
“The local Judo club is run by the very professional Mick Green, he works with Leicester Tigers and can bring that level of skill and fitness the lads need to start the season. Also on the horizon is some time with a local boxing club.
“We have planned weekends away, which will include climbing and other events aimed at building the character and team bonding we will need this coming season.
“Added with pre-season friendly fixtures with sides in higher leagues it provides us with an exciting few months.”
Some big developments behind the scenes are being allied by some immediate investments, making for a positive time for the club – on and off the pitch.
Venus added: “The club has invested heavily in new fitness and playing equipment, but also with the imminent start-up of our own training and second pitch, providing the club with all-year-round facilities.
“We are actively looking to recruit new and players that have drifted away from the game.
“We can provide training by qualified coaches, supported by backroom and medical staff.
“Manor Park aims to deliver a fast enjoyable competitive rugby style.
“But still maintaining the social side of the game that is the envy of so many clubs in the area.
“Anyone who feels they would like to get involved should contact the club via the clubs web page or on its many social media sites.”
