Family ties swayed Hall to make Manor Park switch

THE lure of booting up with his brother proved to be the deciding factor as former Nuns star Adie Hall made his switch to Manor Park.

Manor Park will do well at this level if we are fitter than the other teams. From what I’ve seen in training we’ve got a big, talented pack. If we keep on upping those fitness levels, that will see us through many games.

Younger sibling Simon was one of Park’s many stars of the double-winning 2015/16 campaign – and now he will be joined by big brother for the club’s Midlands 3 West South campaign.
“I’ve never really played with Simon, apart from 30 minutes many years ago for Manor Park at Coventrians,” said Hall. “So that is a big motivation for me. As brothers we are very competitive and we will drive each other forward and try and get the best out of each other and the rest of the lads we play with.
“It also means my dad [Cliff] hasn’t got to alternate between teams at weekends when he comes to watch us, so it’ll be nice for him too.
“I spoke to a couple of clubs including Bedworth and Nuneaton but Manor Park were best placed to help me develop with my coaching.
“I spoke to Kev [Venus, head coach] about coming on board and he is in a really good position as a Level 3 coach to help me progress.”
Having played for the likes of Northampton Saints Academy, Rugby Lions, Bedworth, Broadstreet, Coventry and Stourbridge – Hall arrives with plenty of pedigree and ambitions for his and the club’s future.
He said: “I am looking to immigrate in five or six years’ time to the USA. Rugby is booming over there. My wife has an English degree but I do not have any qualifications like that, so rugby would hopefully be my route in.
“I do not know if it will happen but that is the aim right now and I will work hard to achieve it.
“As a player I like to get stuck in and play to a structure, but also be off the cuff.
“I’ve played in a similar league to this with Bedworth and we had a good pack but it was our fitness levels that got us through in many games.
“If you keep going around the corner, in the end teams will run out of steam and that’s what happened.

“When I played out in Las Vegas my eyes were opened to a different way of playing, a different way of thinking that wasn’t very English like ‘stick it up your jumper’.
“I don’t know how the Manor Park lads play but I will learn that in the coming weeks and months and I am really looking forward to it.”
