First team home game against Upton is off

10 months ago By Bobby Bridge

MANOR Park’s home game with Upton today has been cancelled as the opposition cannot field a team.

As a result, Manor Park are awarded a five point win and move 14 points clear of the relegation zone.
The second team squad are away at Atherstone, the squad remains unchanged but people are welcome to come along and cheer on the lads.
The walkover win is bittersweet for captain Chris Goode. He said: “Our objective for this game was a bonus point win. So we do have that in the bag.
“But we’ve started the year by playing two teams right up at the top of the league and we were looking forward to playing a side who are around us in the table.
“We can’t preach, we’ve been in this position in the past, but it’s particularly frustrating as we had a strong squad ready to go and play and now the lads have been denied that.”
Contact was made with multiple clubs regarding an alternative fixture but nothing could be arrange at such short notice.
The first team is next in action away at Alcester next week.
