Hundreds of people arrived at St Nicolas Parish Church to say a final goodbye to Bob Fulford on Friday morning.

On a bright but chilly December day, a beautiful service led by Sally-Ann Veasey provided the perfect send-off for the gentle giant.
A toast was raised to the great man as well as the Manor Park song sung in gusto back at Bob's second home, the Griff and Coton.

Here's a message from his niece, Vikki Earl, left on the club's Facebook page...

'On behalf of my mum Jane, Auntie Ann, Uncle Maurice, Laurie, Harry, Martha and myself I would like to say a very big thank you to all of you who attended Robert’s funeral and gathering yesterday. And a big thank you also to those who were unable to attend but took the time to send cards, wishes and post comments on Facebook.

It has been so wonderful to see how much Uncle Bobby was cared for and loved by both the Rugby and local community.

You have all kindly shared stories and memories that we as a family would never have otherwise known. I believe Uncle Bobby certainly hid his light under a bushel, and was never one to talk about himself, what he achieved or indeed what he did for others.

As I said to Bobby Bridge yesterday, with his amazing article, together with the messages posted as well as old newspaper clippings and photographs, you have all given us a fantastic gift. Whilst I’ve seen and heard “Long Bob” described as a Legend, what you have all so generously and graciously given us is an actual documented legacy, something that I can pass on to Harry and Martha, and likewise them to their children, so what their Great Uncle Bobby achieved and contributed will never be forgotten, thus allowing him to remain a role model for many years to come.

Thank you all again from the bottom of our hearts. #withyou'
