Still missing their first choice hooker, both wing forwards and half backs Parks resources were further depleted as both locks, Tom King and Michael Kemp were forced to withdraw through injury and work commitments and when Steven Malkin and Dan Elkerton failed to show Park knew they were in for a torrid afternoon against league leaders Keresley.
Without a scrum half in sight, Gary Lakin put his hand up for the job, having spent a lot of time this season hooking for the 3rd team he settled in to the role well but along with his team mates could do little to stop Keresley’s rampaging three quarters. The home side enjoyed a first half haul of forty points as park seemed to have left their defence back at the Griff and Coton.
Well in form and playing lovely 15 man rugby Keresley looked every bit the top of the league as they picked apart Manor all through the first half securing the bonus point early enough for them to be able to settle and enjoy their afternoon.
HT 40-3
A half time grilling from Skipper, Marston, shook the visitors into shape and Park were a lot more competitive in the second period. Two tries, one from No 8, Willis and the other from second row man, Cart equalled the two Keresley offered.
A final score of 52 -15 to Keresley was well deserved but credit to Manor Park for not allowing their heads to drop in what could have been a cricket score, Keresley now await the results of the Edwardians vs Pinley to find out whether they go into Midlands West (south) 3 as champions or not.
All at Manor Park Wish them the best of luck for the 2011-12 season.
