Partnership with Elite extended to create Marine Centre of Excellence...

Marine AFC are pleased to confirm the extension of the existing partnership with Elite Sports Academy to create the Marine Centre of Excellence.

The Marine Centre of Excellence is the next chapter in the exciting partnership between Marine and Elite Training Services CIC, the community interest arm of Elite Academy who run the club's Youth teams at U18 and U19 level.

The key aim of this community project is to develop physical activity programmes, work experience options and employment opportunities.

As part of this initiative, coaching staff will also engage with local primary schools and offer free coaching sessions and events to coincide with the World Cup. They have also been busy delivering the digital daily mile for a few schools over the course of the last few weeks. This involves a QR reader which allows them to track finish times and set personal goals for pupils.

As part of the Centre of Excellence collaboration, Marine coaching staff have designed football sessions which are progressive and exciting for young players.

This will be partly subsidised by our partners so that players get to work with coaches with excellent credentials at academy level.

Their Head Coach has worked at professional academies including Manchester United, Burnley, Preston and Bury.

Elite Director, Paul Brannan said: "This is an ideal opportunity for young players to be coached at the highest standard without paying a fortune in fees. Successful corporate partnerships have helped fund these programmes to deliver on our social responsibilities."

Marine Vice Chairman Dave McMillan said: "Elite have been great to work with since we entered in to the partnership, with impressive results for their students in the first year of the education based football programme.

We're delighted to extend it further so that local kids can benefit from coaching in a safe and affordable environment and I'm sure the programme will be a great success.

The programme is currently targeting under 6s to under 9s for boys and girls. The age ranges will be reviewed based on the level of interest received.

The start date is Monday 20th August from 5pm to 6pm at Play Football, Drummond Road, Crosby L23 9YP at a cost of £16 per month.

If you wish to find out more about the school programmes or think your child would benefit from additional coaching, please contact us in the following ways:
